Vladimir -

Second Capital of Russia - Вторая столица РусиCreated by: Romanov Empire - Империя РомановыхDated: 1290

In the Suprasl, Gustyn, Lviv, Ermolin, Nikon, Kholmogory chronicles, the shortened chronicles of 1493 and 1495, the chronicles of 1497 and 1518, the Steppen Book, the Russian chronograph, it is stated that Vladimir-on-Klyazma was founded by Vladimir Svyatoslavich in 990.

Vladimir strengthened thanks to Vladimir Monomakh and Yuri Dolgoruky, who strengthened him to protect the Rostov-Suzdal principality. Then, the founder of Moscow, Yuri Dolgoruky, who lived in Suzdal, kept his suburban residence here.

The city owes its prosperity to Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky, who in 1157 transferred the capital of the principality here. Prince Yurievich, after the death of his father Yuri Dolgoruky, inherited the capital throne of Kiev, but did not want to live in Kiev, as he did not want to live in Vladimir as a simple prince. At the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa, Andrew asked the Italian architects captured by him during the siege of the city of Milan.

With the successors of Prince Andrew Bogolyubsky, the city expanded, in the city chronicles were kept (the Laurentian Chronicle), All-Russian congresses of princes passed. Nominal capital of Russia instead of Kiev from 1157 is Vladimir. This status was further strengthened and already became factual in 1299, when the city became the residence of Russian metropolitans after the transfer of the Metropolitan of Kiev to Vladimir.

Vladimir prince Vsevolod the Big Nest was one of the most powerful Russian princes, and from his reign for the Vladimir princes the title of "greats", transferred to him from the Kiev princes, was finally fixed, which emphasized the capital status of the city. From 1252 to 1263, the Great Prince of Vladimir was Alexander Yaroslavich Nevsky, who was later buried in the Christmas monastery of the city of Vladimir.

Beginning in 1238, the city was repeatedly subjected to Tatar raids, the most difficult of which was the devastation of Dudeneva in 1293. Vladimir ceased to be the residence of the Grand Dukes, who now only performed the rite of enthronement, remaining to live in their hereditary lands. Nevertheless, it was the Vladimir princes who were recognized in the Horde as the main and oldest in all of Russia, thanks to which Vladimir remained nominal (after losing his actual status) the capital of all Russian lands.
